Today was playtesting day. You might have noticed that we very recently changed some mechanics and narrative of our game. We might have been a little nervous before our formal playtest, but it is always good to playtest before you're really ready... and our playtest went very well!
Our group of players came in with very little knowledge of the game they were about to play. After being told they were cops on a crime scene, they all immediately snapped into cop characters, and referred to their commanding chief with respect. As soon as the timer began to go down and they were getting emails from the killer, they felt this urge to quickly figure out what was going on.
After 20 minutes and 3 deaths, the players were able to catch the killer! An impressive first run, and lots of fun was definitely had by all!
There were a lot of things to discuss after the playtest. The most important was getting insight into the player's experience. The moment of truth. "Did you guys have fun playing the game?" A very enthused "YES!" let us know we were on the right path. After a few more games on the direction and improvements of CAGED, we were able to get very clear and excited feedback.
Thank you for all of the playtesters that came out to play the first official run through of CAGED. We are glad you guys had fun, and appreciate all of your feedback. We can't wait to get even more players to play again soon! Stay up to date with development, and one of those players might just be you!
